ARchiTecture
(art+architecture) Residency: A Design + Build and Live in Project
- Project is a part of the foundation's
arts village at Abetenim in theAshanti Region of Ghana (about
15 minutes from Kumasi). Artistic persons or teams in the fields
of architecture, engineering and the arts that include visual
arts, literary arts, performing arts, design, new media/ film
production, arts history, arts criticism, arts education, arts
administration and curatorship, and emerging others are all welcome
to apply for residency. The task of the ARchiTecture residency
is to design, build and test-live in low budget and quality structures
with earth and other materials from the environment. In the construction,
participant will be assisted by a local master builder and local
laborers. Length of project residencies is usually from 3 to
12 months. Deadline: Ongoing but apply 2 months in advance of
residency. The application should include your CV/ resumé
along with: (1) the budget, (2) drawings/ sketches of proposed
project and (3) a paragraph or two that explains your project
idea and process. Based on your project and background we will
research and help the candidate apply for grants to cover own
