This architectural practice and consultancy based in central London, has established a strong reputation for successfully addressing complex design and planning issues. Much of their work involves the design of new buildings in historic settings, often in conjunction with the restoration and adaptation of historic and listed buildings for new uses. They are currently looking to recruit an Architectural technician with vectorworks to work on a 4* grade listed 155 bedroom hotel project in Central London.  This is a 3 month assignment and the rate will be in the region of £25 per hour Ltd.

Assistant CAD Management / Architectural Assistant London ­ SE1.

- London Bridge. 

This large practice based minutes from London Bridge station currently has a need to recruit a senior architectural technician with commercial experience to work on a number of projects including data centres and business parks. You should be fully competent in the use of AutoCAD ideally V.8.  This is a 6 month contract and the rate will be in £23.00 per hour.

As specialists within the public infrastructure sector, this highly respected practice circa 20 in strength has been involved on a number of the UK's key transportation of the last decade. They have the project and design management skills that provide the continuity of design and planned delivery for staged programmes of work.
 
A selection of current clients include; Crossrail, Network Rail, LUL, DLR, TfL and Tubelines, due to repeated commissions for new and regeneration projects they are currently looking to enhance the project capabilities by recruiting qualified career minded Architects.
 
The Candidate
 
You should be ARB registered or nearing registration and must be able to demonstrate a good level of technical English language, good individual organizational skills and the ability to understand and adopt required team job management protocols.
 
Transport experience is not essential, however, an interest in civic and urban infrastructure, and the concept of 'engineered architecture' is preferred. You will have sufficient experience covering each stage of the design process, from feasibility and concept, through to detail design and production information, an understanding of construction, and the architect's role and responsibilities as part of project construction teams.
 
You must have the willingness and ability to coordinate with a wide variety of consultants along with confidence and good presentation skills for liaison with clients and stakeholders.

Technical Advisor
London ­ SW1

Well established practice with a Technical Services Group which is a in-house team of professionals whose collective role is to assist designers with technical, specification, procedural and legal queries - essentially they act as a one-stop helpdesk for the design teams.
 
This group is also responsible for formulating and issuing the Practice's risk management procedures, in association with their professional indemnity insurers, as well as assisting the practice's designers to maintain and improve their technical proficiency to ensure they carry out their duties in a competent and professional manner.
 
The opportunity has arisen for a new Technical Advisor to join us, whose primary responsibility will be to provide design staff with advice regarding product and material selection and specification, as well as guidance regarding compliance with the Building Regulations; British and European Standards and Codes of Practice; the CDM Regulations 2007; and the Disability Discrimination Act.
 
Part of the advisor's responsibilities will be to carry out research and keep up to date with developments in construction best practice, including H&S and sustainability in order to pass this information onto the design teams in easily digestible formats.
 
The precise nature of the Technical Advisor's role will be tailored to match the particular skills and experience of the successful candidate, however, as well as providing advice the role will involve regular use of NBS Building for specification writing (training available) for which the successful candidate will be expected to have a working knowledge of construction and building materials.

The advisor's general duties will include:

  • Assisting designers to meet their legal obligations, including duties under the CDM regulations
  • Assisting designers with Town Planning and Building Control issues
  • Drafting and up-dating the practices standard best practice technical guidance notes
  • Participating in CDM / DDA project reviews with the project teams
  • Drafting and issuing project specifications
  • Reviewing and advising the project teams regarding project preliminaries
  • Preparing and issuing project interim payment certificates
  • Assisting architectural assistants with queries relating to their work towards professional qualification
The role necessarily requires good communication and interpersonal skills, together with an enthusiasm to work with the Practice's designers to help them develop the technical aspects of their designs within the constraints of the construction industry's regulatory framework.
 
Salary is negotiable but will be in the region of £45,000 plus benefits.

The role
This is a strategic role and will require the successful applicant to have been operating at a senior level; you will have gained executive level experience of winning work, managing teams and project delivery to the highest standards.

You are likely to already be in an Associate/Associate Director/Director level position and will have a proven track record of drawing up large master planning schemes which have been taken from inception to completion.

Candidates will have excellent written and graphic presentation skills together with the ability to contribute to Design and Access Statements, Design Codes, Environmental Statements, Planning Statements, Design Codes etc. Experience in community engagement would be an advantage.
