Principal Specialist Built Heritage

The current moment in
time represents a unique opportunity to join Auckland Council's
Heritage team and help them to develop the heritage strategy,
policy and priorities for the future. Working within the passionate
Heritage, Environmental, Strategy and Policy unit you will assist
to identify, protect, conserve and enhance heritage features
within the region. Key projects you will be involved in include
input into the unitary plan and writing other plans and strategies
including a historic heritage plan to advance the development
of an integrated approach to heritage for the Auckland Council.
To help achieve the Mayor's vision
of Auckland as the world's most liveable city a number of key
roles exist within the heritage unit. We are searching the country
and the globe for the brightest, most passionate and aspirational
heritage specialists. A current opportunity exists for a Principal
Specialist Built Heritage. The successful candidate for this
key role will possess.
· A tertiary qualification
in planning, architecture or other related field. Any post-graduate
qualification specialising in a relevant area will be highly
regarded
· At least 7 to 12 years
experience in a senior heritage or planning strategy and policy
development role
· Proven experience at
a senior level in the provision of specialist advice to address
built heritage matters
· Extensive working experience
at a senior level in the built heritage field including development
and Implementation of 'best practices'
· Experience with legislative
and regulatory frameworks within local government will be highly
regarded
· Proven knowledge of
resource management processes particularly policy and plan review
and change

Urban Design team and help them to develop the urban design strategy,
policy and priorities for the future. Working within the vibrant
Built Environment unit (this is in essence the Council's urban
design service) you will assist to shape, promote and improve
the quality of the region's built environment. Key projects you
will be involved in include input into the Auckland Spatial Plan
and writing other plans and strategies specific to Auckland's
unique urban landscape.
To help achieve the Mayor's vision
of Auckland as the world's most liveable city a number of key
roles exist within the Built Environment unit. We are searching
the country and the globe for the brightest, most passionate
and aspirational urban designers. Current opportunities exist
for Principal Specialist Urban Designers. The successful candidates
for these key roles will possess:
· A tertiary qualification
in design, planning, architecture or other related field. Any
post-graduate level qualification specialising in urban design
will be looked upon favourably.
· At least 7 to 12 years
(more is fine) experience working in the areas of urban design
· Extensive working experience
at a senior level in the urban design field including development
and implementation of 'best practices'
· Experience in private
sector and local Government environments are equally desired
· Strong Design capabilities
with an ability to hand draw and use industry standard computer
design packages
· Experience with legislative
and regulatory frameworks within local government will be highly
regarded
· Knowledge of resource
consents and plan change processes and workings is desired
· Experience on large
or complex urban design projects will set you apart from the
rest
