Project Associate
The Charlottesville Community
Design Center seeks a part time project associate to assist
with SPARK! - a new energy efficiency program targeting households
in the greater Charlottesville area. CCDC is publicly launching
SPARK! on April 19, 2008. The first phase of the program will
involve educational outreach about energy efficiency and the
best options for implementing "whole-house" energy
solutions for residences in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle
County. A portion of the SPARK! program is dedicated to providing
energy-related technical assistance to low-income households
in the City of Charlottesville.
Position responsibilities include:
- Reading and synthesizing research
on energy efficiency programs around the country
- Writing and designing public
information and materials on energy efficiency, including brochures,
advertisements and web content, targeted at specific audiences
- Coordinating logistics for a
series of energy efficiency workshops at CCDC
- Compiling and organizing reference
material for an energy efficiency and green building resource
library
- Assisting with community outreach
around energy efficiency and energy-related issues
- Providing other project support
as needed
CCDC offers a fun and creative
working environment based in a newly renovated office/gallery
space on Charlottesville's downtown mall. Project associate hours
are flexible, but will average around 15 - 20 hours per week.
Salary commensurate with experience. This job has the potential
to evolve into a full time position.
Successful candidates will possess
strong writing and communication skills, excellent organization
skills, be capable of working independently, and have a basic
interest in green building and energy-related issues. Experience
with marketing and graphic design a plus. Interested applicants

Design Center (CCDC) is a nonprofit based in Charlottesville
that brings together citizens and design resources to create
equitable, sustainable and beautiful communities. Formed by a

facilitation programs fueled by public discussion in order to
connect good design with community values, especially in underserved
