RAW#3

the third Roots Architecture Workshop Challenge at WOMAD
26th-29th July 2012

with tangentfield and Fourth Door Review. Can you hear hammering over Femi Kuti? Can you smell sawdust over the Soul Food? Track down the source at the RAW#3 corner and discover a playground of construction which we like to call ‘adventures in playful resourcefulness’. More….

Yes; here, at RAW#3 something big is emerging! A stage to rival any stage you have seen before..on day 1 you will find 4 teams of participants haggling over a finite pile of scavenged and bartered resources before embarking on a whirlwind journey into an unknown new dimension which they will be building themselves. They will be coaxed, cajoled and mentored by some amazing people with a raft of expertise. Team leaders are representatives from organisations specialising in emergency shelter, green building, humanitarian architecture, collaborative design, and sustainable construction. This year tangentfield are delighted to welcome the Superbolt Theatre Company who will be co-ordinating the RAW#3 open stage and choreographing the performance for the Sunday Spectacular! Superbolt are on their way to Edinburgh Festival .

Team Leaders and specialists at RAW#3 include:

Architecture Sans Frontier, international timber construction specialist Charley Brentnall , ‘Bamboo’ Jack Everett’, Integral Engineering, Nick Biggles of Bristol Pedal Revolution, Electric Pedals, Katherine McNeil & Alasdair Dixon from Architecture for Humanity, Jessica Toale & Ralph Buschow from Article 25, Engineers Without Borders and Superbolt Theatre Company.
